IT and Technology Research Paper - 825 Words

IT and Technology (Research Paper Sample) Content: Name:Course:Instructor:Date:IT TechnologyThe IBM Company has been running for decades making software and other information technology products for both local and international markets. The company has identified a gap in IT market where it needs to introduce new software to bridge the gap. The company needs to design cloud hosting software that will enhance its operations and provide efficient customer service at affordable prices. The company has designed to improve the quality of the existing cloud management software to match and exceed that of competitors in the market. This process is geared to follow the phases involved in SDLC (software development life cycle) and enable the staff identify all the loopholes and places they can fix to make the process a success (Airbrake 1).Source: Veracode, 2015The SDLC involves requirements gathering/analysis phase, then to the designing the program, coding the program, documenting and testing the system and the final phase involves operating and maintaining the system. The IBM Company needs to analyze the need of having an improved software to enable clients manage their files using the cloud technology. The users should be able to serve themselves and enhance visibility into their allocated resources and use them for their benefits. The new software product should be able to deliver firmware/software updates, patches and marketing/data messages to the clients and their customers. During the development of the new cloud management software, quality checks will be enhanced where the phases of quality process like defining the product, discovering, designing developing and delivering phases would be explained in detail (Quality Process para. 1-4). During the first phase of the software development, which is gathering requirements and analyzing them, the customer needs are defined and prioritized. The customers have been having challenges in managing their files hosted by the cloud technology. The chall enge has seen many customers becoming dissatisfied and choosing to find other options to manage their online files.During the defining process of the new cloud management software, customers will be asked to give their opinions and suggestions on the cloud management system and from the short survey, the IBM Company will arrive at new features that the customers want improved from the original form of the cloud management procedures and software. This process will lead to discovering the existing gaps in providing the required service and the company would, therefore, provide the details of the intended software to the clients. The customers will be informed of the new procedures that will be aligned with the companyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s business objectives. During this phase, the management would start designing and developing the software in a planned timeframe. Discovered business gaps include poor service from the hosting management software, slow processing of commands and customers los ing business due to malfunctioning of the cloud hosting management software. The next step in the quality process control will include designing the software. Software professionals will be engaged in making the anticipated changes. Airbrake (1) observes that this step is led by lead development staff including developers and architects. Some technical requirements will include the database tables to be includes, security processes, system hardware requirements and definition of any new transactions.Risk analysis during the development stage is required where vulnerabilities and threats likely to arise from interaction with other systems. Legacy and external codes should be analyzed to help determine any security gap. Legal establishments for high risk projects involving millions of customers and their crucial information should be sought. Since this is a corporate project, this legal process should be followed to the full. Some functional specifications include description of inte rface requirements, workflow mechanics, and addition of other important details like logins. It is this process that some existing infrastructure are combined or redesigned to feature the new mode...
